THE THINKING BEHIND THE NUMBER

How to use this checker

This checker inspects only publicly visible storefront HTML and asset references. It groups recognisable app and integration signals by function, while separating strong evidence from possible matches.

THE METHOD

Public Shopify evidence + known integration-domain or distinctive script signatures → confidence-labelled visible technologies. No private app list is accessed.

A practical example

Enter a public storefront domain. The checker looks only at public page code and displays evidence it can identify reliably. Private or dynamically loaded technologies may remain unknown.

How to read your result

Apps that load only after interaction, work server-side, or leave no public signature cannot be reliably detected. A missing result is not proof an app is absent.

Use the result alongside your store analytics, product costs and operating context. If the inputs are estimates, treat the output as an estimate too. Change one input at a time to understand what drives the result.

What is a Shopify app stack?

An app stack is the collection of apps, scripts and services that add features to a storefront: reviews, email capture, search, subscriptions, analytics, advertising pixels and more. A public-page checker can identify only the part of that stack that leaves visible storefront code.

How the Shopify app detector works

The tool safely fetches a public homepage, checks for Shopify-specific storefront signals, then compares public asset URLs and distinctive code markers with a maintained signature registry. Each finding is labelled High or Medium confidence according to the strength of the visible evidence; it never reads Shopify Admin.

Which apps can be detected?

The registry covers selected review, email, upsell, search, support, subscription, loyalty, page-building, analytics and advertising services. A technology appears only when a supported public signature is found, not because stores in the same category commonly use it.

Why can't every Shopify app be detected?

Some apps run entirely server-side or through checkout, load only after a visitor interacts, or use custom code without a distinctive public asset. Password protection, bot controls and CDN changes can also hide evidence. No public checker can provide a complete installed-app inventory.

Apps versus custom theme functionality

A feature that looks like an app may be built into the Shopify theme or custom code. Before removing an app, review who maintains the feature, how merchants edit it, whether it has recurring cost and whether it affects performance or support.

Can too many apps slow a Shopify store?

Apps that add storefront scripts can increase download and execution work, but app count alone does not measure speed. A focused audit should look at actual network requests, Core Web Vitals and the value each feature provides.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Shopify App Stack Detector FAQs

Can this detect every Shopify app?+

No. It can identify only supported technologies with visible public storefront signatures. Private, server-side and deferred apps may be missed.

Does the tool access Shopify Admin?+

No. It requests a public storefront homepage only and does not log in, crawl admin paths or request credentials.

Can it identify review apps such as Judge.me or Loox?+

Yes, when their distinctive public scripts or assets are present in the inspected HTML. No result does not prove they are absent.

Can it detect Klaviyo and Meta Pixel?+

It can identify supported public script or asset references for those services, but implementations that load later or server-side may not appear.

Why was an app not detected?+

The app might not run on the homepage, might load after interaction, might use a different signature, or might not expose public code.

Is this Shopify app checker free?+

Yes. It checks public storefront evidence without requiring an account or Shopify access.
